How do you declutter?

Gosh, it’s always such a simple thing to do, and yet, it often makes a huge difference - decluttering.

How often do you declutter?

Sometimes I declutter a drawer or a closet when I need to work something out in my mind. The times spent sorting, determining if something still “sparks joy”. Or determining if something is needed or useful creates a Zen atmosphere in my mind.

There are times though, that I focus on decluttering my mind. There is nothing like taking a piece of paper and jotting everything down that is in my head. All the fears, absurd thoughts, catastrophizing mental messages. Anything that doesn’t serve me, written down in uncomfortable black and white.

The best part of decluttering my mind? Is what to do with it after. This is the delicious part. Sometimes, the words just live in my journal, in a spot that I never look back at. Other times I tear up the paper or light it on fire with an intention to let all those thoughts go. Each is equally as satisfying, though the fire ceremony is especially yummy when those thoughts have been pummeling my mind.

Oh, and this weekend, I decluttered my email inbox. My work email is hopeless, but my personal inbox is not. That one just needed a little cleaning. Unsubscribing to all sorts of newsletters is, oh so satisfying. And spring is just around the corner. What are you doing to declutter your life so you can awaken into the beauty of rebirth and growth?

Drop me a line on what you do to declutter. And as always, be well, be safe, be free!
