Do you Network?

If so, how do you network? What things do you do to connect with others?

From my early days, networking has been essential in my career journey. And at this stage in my career, it continues to be the center for whatever is next. Despite being on a hiatus, I make time to connect with my network and spend time expanding my reach.

Why do this in during my “down” time? It is the best time to connect because I don’t need anything at the moment, but also have time and attention to see how I might be able to help others more deeply because I don’t have other big responsibilities. In addition, it keeps me grounded. Going through a big life transition creates all sorts of emotions and these feelings, which can be overwhelming, can be kept in check by connecting with others.

In addition, this connection is a fabulous way to begin shaping and honing my new vision of the future, and determine new goals and approaches in the next phase of my life. Regardless, this time of networking has been very fruitful and fun. I continue to be amazed at how fun it is to connect with others. To see what they are up to, and also to experience others wanting to help me, even when I haven’t decided what’s next, often being greeted with, “let me know when you decide, I have some great opportunities (or connections) for you.”

Whenever I have moments of doubt about humanity, these moments of connection remind me, that people still do want to help – often generalized connection isn’t enough, but these moments of one-to-one connection are how to make a difference.
